Shillo Stories: Ines Guibal

Hi, I'm Ines! I have a film and photography background and was really interested in exploring something new. I loved Shillington. I met some really cool people, and learned SO MUCH in so little time. I now work as a graphic designer and couldn’t be happier. I use the skills I learned at Shillington every day thanks to the teachers.
Inspiring me
I still use photography and film as everyday inspiration. I think each art form can impact the other in a beautiful way. Recently, I have been really into vintage design, so anything from retro diner designs, to textures found in vintage fashion - they’ve been greatly inspiring. Check out my latest project, ‘Joan’s Parlor’ - sweet-scented candles for a cozy atmosphere.

On reflection
A significant moment in my professional journey was changing career path. I’m glad I did because now I know twice as many things! I used to think everything I learned before was a waste, but in reality, I'm very lucky to have experienced being both a filmmaker and a graphic designer.

What's cooking?
I'm currently working on a visual identity for a perfume brand called 'Goodies'. It's for an Instagram competition with @brand.brief who post new briefs every Monday. I've found that it's a great way to keep the creative juices flowing - and eventually gain some visibility! Stay tuned for the finished creation.
